The Story Behind the Writer: Eva Lucas

Eva Lucas is the pen name of Croatian author and artist Katja Restović. Her artistic work has always been multi-layered – spanning film, music videos, and photography, before finding its most complete expression in literature, where these forms are transformed into narrative.

Under the pen name Eva Lucas, she published the novels Pan American Highway (2001), Henry Toole’s Film (2002), and Placida Curatto (2002). She is currently working on the Black Oats trilogy: the first two novels, Black Oats and The Secret Order, are completed, while the third installment, The Last Relic, is currently in development.

Pan American Highway

A road that connects continents but forgives nothing. On the Pan American Highway, escape is not a choice but a necessity, and identity shifts faster than borders can be crossed. In a world of smugglers, violence, and false promises, every decision carries a price — and someone always pays it.

Placida Curatto

Naples. A city where glamour and crime never collide by accident. Placida Curatto moves between spotlights and shadows, in a world where debts are never forgiven and loyalty has an expiration date. As the boundary between public image and private alliances erodes, it becomes clear that truth here is not a moral question, but a matter of survival.

Henry Tools Film

Henry Tools is a producer who believes every story can be directed — even his own kidnapping. What begins as a perfectly staged operation soon spirals out of control, as the line between cinema and reality dangerously dissolves. When the camera ceases to protect, only one question remains: who is really holding the script?
